This is my second year at St. Jerome School and my 23rd year teaching in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. I have both a Bachelor and Master degree in Elementary Education. Besides Middle School I have also taught PreK3, 3rd grade, 4th grade and Library/Technology PreK-8th grades. My husband, myself and our two daughters attended all Catholic schools in our diocese from Grades K-12. One of my passions is helping children learn outside of the classroom walls by doing global collaborative projects with students in other states and countries. I also enjoy finding new ways of using technology to make learning interactive. My goal this year is to help your children grow both in their faith and academically. I hope to inspire them to do their best while also having fun.
Students in 6th grade are departmentalized and have Mrs. Schmidt for Science, Religion, and Technology; Mrs. Zorawski for Math, and Mrs. McConnell for ELA and Social Studies. Their Religion classes focus on the study of the Old Testament and students enjoy monthly visits from seminarians. In Science, they study the topics of Earth and Space. They complete hands-on labs as often as possible, keeping in line with current Covid protocols. In the Spring they are required to complete a Science experiment of their choice for the Science Fair. There is also the option to complete the Science Fair project at the St. Jerome Summer Camp. Students are 1:1 with Chromebooks and enjoy many technology-infused lessons. Some of the topics covered in Technology class include digital citizenship, typing, eBook creation, 3D printing, Google tools, and coding, as well as STEM engineering and design projects.
