Hello, my name is Tina Schmidt and I am excited to join the St. Jerome School faculty this year. I have both a Bachelor and a Master degree in Elementary Education and this will be my 22nd year teaching in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. My husband, myself and our two daughters attended all Catholic schools in our diocese from Grades K-12. One of my passions is helping children learn outside of the classroom walls by doing global collaborative projects with students in other states and countries. I also enjoy finding new ways of using technology to make learning interactive. My goal this year is to help your children grow both in their faith and academically. I hope to inspire them to do their best while also having fun.
Students in 6th grade are departmentalized and have Mrs. Schmidt for Science, Religion, and Social Studies; Mrs. Zorawski or Mr. Casee for Math, and Mrs. Collins for ELA. Our Religion classes focus on the study of the Old and New Testament and students enjoy monthly visits from our seminarian, Mr. Voss. Sixth grade students study Eastern Civilizations in Social Studies and take part in global projects. Engineering and design projects as well as interactive labs and the Science Fair are highlights in Science class as they learn Earth Science. Students are 1:1 with Chromebooks and enjoy many technology-infused lessons.
