Hello my name is Mrs. Renee Giannetti and I just began my 15th year of teaching at the start of the 2020-2021 school year. I have taught twelve years in kindergarten and two years in third grade, all of which were here at St. Jerome School. I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education that I received at Holy Family University. I attended St. Bernard grade school and Saint Hubert High School for Girls in the northeast. Aside from attending Catholic school my entire school career and knowing the many benefits, there are many reasons as to why I am passionate about Catholic education and teaching at St. Jerome School. The advantages of a Catholic education are extensive as we focus on the whole child with their faith formation at the center. The teachers have a partnership with the parents and work together on advancing the children academically, morally, and spiritually.
In kindergarten, we have many fun experiences where the children have ample opportunities to learn and grow. We focus on expanding the students love of learning, build upon their knowledge, and help them develop key socialization skills. In religion, we learn about our special relationship with Jesus, God, his Father, as well as about the Holy Family. We are also introduced to the church seasons and learn how to become more Christ like and closer to God. In ELA (English Language Arts) we focus on letters, their sounds, sight words, and read trade books that concentrate on early reading skills, such as comprehension skills and concepts of print. In math, we center our learning on skills and concepts that promote higher level thinking and focus on problem solving, number recognition, sorting, graphing etc. Throughout the school months we celebrate different holidays/occasions with the children. Some special days/events that take place in kindergarten are Johnny Appleseed Day, 100th Day of School celebration, and “Wacky Wednesday”, where we dress in a “wacky” way to celebrate the author, Dr. Seuss’ birthday.
