About Mrs. BadmanHi, my name is Margaret (Margie) Badman. I love working with younger children so I am thrilled to join St. Jerome School in first grade. I earned my teaching degree from Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania. There is no greater joy than seeing little ones learn something new especially when seeing their eyes light up with sudden understanding. I have taught every grade level from preschool through high school. One year, I traveled to Spain to teach high school science at a missionary school. I taught second and third grade for a number of years before taking time off to raise my three boys. Now one is in Florida, another in Virginia and my youngest is a junior at Conwell-Egan Catholic High School in Bristol, PA. In my free time, you might find me reading an exciting mystery book, gardening in my backyard vegetable garden, baking some chocolate chip cookies or taking care of my handsome boys. I look forward to a wonderful year!

First Grade is a transitional year for the students. It is the first year they are required to wear the school uniform, sit in a desk all day, and have regular tests on work learned in the classroom. During a "normal" year first grade incorporates guided reading and math groups. The students will work in small groups doing various reading/math centers around the room while I work with a small group providing semi individualized instruction. The small groups allow me to evaluate a student's progress and if they need to come back to the table for small group introduction again this is possible. Some of the students favorite things about first grade are our visits to the STEM lab which we will be doing in the classroom this year, the Halloween parade, Grinchmas, and of course listening to the antics of Junie B. Jones.
