I built the St. Jerome Fine Arts program from the ground up in 1995. I am beginning my thirtieth year of teaching in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. I taught for four years at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Southampton. I have had the joy and honor of teaching at St. Jerome School for the past twenty-five years. My Catholic Education covers a period of 16 years. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from Chestnut Hill College. Also, I served on the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Fine Arts Committee and I was a Master Teacher for workshops for new teachers. I am a cantor on the weekends at four different churches. My greatest joy is that I am teaching my former student’s children! I am very passionate about nurturing my students artistically, musically and spiritually! My love for the Lord is shared daily through my Art/Music lessons. I truly believe that it was God’s plan for me to build and create the St. Jerome Art/Music program. I am very dedicated to my students and providing them with a well rounded Arts education.
The St. Jerome Fine Arts program was created in September of 1995 under the direction of Fr. Joseph Graham. It was his dream to provide the students the opportunity to learn about Art and Music. The students in Pre K 3 & 4 are taught music from September to May. Whereas, grades K to 3 are instructed half the year in music and the remainder of the year in Art. Finally, grades 4-8 are taught Art/Music appreciation and history the whole year. A yearly Fine Arts show is done to showcase the children’s artistic and musical talents. While the goal of the program is to advance the knowledge, talents, and skills of each student, the main focus is to show the presence of God our Father through the gifts of artists and composers.
