Hello Everyone! My name is Gary Stevens and I have been at St. Jeromes for the past 17 years. During that time I have taught ELA, Social Studies, and Science for grades 4-6. Most of my time here I have taught 5th grade. I graduated from Holy Family University in 2004 in with a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Working at a Catholic School such as St. Jerome's I can ensure that the children receive a quality education and develop their knowledge and appreciation of the Catholic faith and God. Looking forward to a great year!
5th grade this year will truly be a transitional one, as we prepare students to be more independent for the upcoming years. Students will be responsible for any work that they miss. As the year progresses, they will be encouraged to be more independent of their work. A major goal this year in 5th grade will be to prepare them for the demands of middle school. We have lots of fun activities planned in 5th grade this year such as Grinchmas, Cinco de Mayo celebration, a book tasting event, as well as multiple science experiments. We will end our year in ELA by completing the novel Maniac Magee.
