Welcome to Fifth Grade! My name is Ms. Harper, and I am thrilled to be your child’s fifth-grade teacher!
To share a little about myself, this year will be my second year working at Saint Jerome’s and my first year as a fifth-grade teacher. Last year, I had the pleasure of working as our school’s Primary Grade Assistant and Building Substitute. My passion for teaching is deeply rooted in my commitment to nurturing a classroom that thrives both academically and spiritually. I believe in creating a classroom environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy crafting, photography, and traveling with my family. You’d also likely catch me down the shore or at some sort of Philly sports game.5th grade this year will truly be a transitional one, as we prepare students to be more independent for the upcoming years. Students will be responsible for any work that they miss. As the year progresses, they will be encouraged to be more independent of their work. A major goal this year in 5th grade will be to prepare them for the demands of middle school. We have lots of fun activities planned in 5th grade this year such as Grinchmas, Cinco de Mayo celebration, a book tasting event, as well as multiple science experiments. We will end our year in ELA by completing the novel Maniac Magee.
